Everyone has heard stories about vacations from hell, where everything went wrong. In most of these stories, the problems could have been averted through proper planning. You really need to ease the pain of traveling. After you read this article, you will never have any travel problems caused by poor planning again!
Pack Easy to Bring Luggage
Pack your luggage in such a way that it can be easily carried, even for fairly long distances. You’ll be walking with your luggage more often than you might think. A lighter bag will make your trip easier, safer and much more fun for you than if you are lugging a heavy case.
Be Aware of Police Officers
When traveling in foreign countries, beware of police officers who ask for your ID. This is the next idea to help ease the pain of traveling. Make sure you ask them for their ID to prove they’re actually a cop. Instead of showing them your real passport, show them a photocopy instead. You don’t want to risk a thief running off with your passport.
Bring Your Own A/V Cable for Laptop
When staying at a high-end domestic hotel, bring along your own A/V cable for your laptop. Most hotel rooms at nicer hotels offer free in-room WiFi and a large HDTV, but will then charge a premium for in-room movies. Having your own A/V cable gives you access to your own selection of downloaded movies or an online account.
Don’t Miss the Toilet Paper
Bring your own toilet paper! In many countries, toilet paper is either not used, or not provided. Put a small amount of toilet paper in a plastic sandwich bag, and carry it with you, or simply grab a travel pack of facial tissues. You do not want to get stuck without any!
Pack along some Peppermint or Candies
While traveling, request peppermint tea or bring some along for your own use. Pack along some peppermint lozenges or candies. Peppermint is soothing and can help settle an upset stomach due to new culinary delights or motion sickness. In a pinch, it can also act as a breath freshener if you are caught out in the wild without a toothbrush or run out of toothpaste.
Knowledge Yourself First before Sightseeing
Before leaving home, do some research on the sightseeing locations you plan on visiting. Let’s say when you are on Holidays in Italy, make note of attraction hours, days they are closed, and whether you need to get a ticket beforehand. For example, it is very frustrating to get to a much-anticipated art museum, only to find that they are closed every Tuesday.
Put Your Identity Inside and Outside of Luggage
Put your name and phone number on both the inside and outside of your luggage. This way, if your luggage happens to get lost and your information is faded away on the outside, at least your contact information will still be available on the inside. Make sure to do this for all of your luggage.
